For the last couple of years my wife and I have introduced a tradition of making our gifts for each other. This year that gift was what I am calling a 'lap desk' but I guess it just a freestanding mini desk that has a tilting top.
The side table sits next to the sofa and holds a few sundry items like the phone. It is cheap black metal frame and glass top. I've had it for a long time, and I really don't like it any more. I've totally grown out of the glass surfaces thing. They almost never look good except for the 10 seconds between cleaning them thoroughly and the first fingerprint. So this is what I have set out to replace.
Some time ago I started a project..., OK quite a long time ago..., alright - I'm slightly embarrassed to admit it was over 2 years ago. My bedroom is pretty big so I decided it could stand to lose a couple of feet to have a decent size built-in wardrobe.
